Hello and welcome to Megabites! Our weekly round up of news and stories from the world of Irish food.

This week we’re in Cork, the city that has enriched its culinary architecture quietly and surely over the last five years. 

The city’s stalwarts have improved and developed, whilst new arrivals have enhanced the fabric and variety of the city’s quixotic dining scene. There is a confidence to the cooking culture that was lacking a decade ago, when opportunities for new arrivals to gee up the momentum were few and far between.

The slings and arrows of outrageous VAT may have slammed into food businesses, but it has not stopped practitioners from adapting and innovating, as we report in the latest Food News from Cork.
